The History of the Devil

The Devil misses heaven. In an effort to get back into heaven, a court is raised in the middle of the African wastes, to judge the Devil’s life on Earth. If proven not guilty, he will ascend back to heaven to be with his father. If not, he will continue to spend eternity on earth. The play traces moments in the Devil’s past where his mortal life is analyzed officially before the unseen jury. From his first fall from Heaven into a Russian Farm, to the present where he comes face to face with his own demons. Nietzsche said god is dead, but the Devil ultimately finds out what that means to him and his verdict.
