Last fall, Long Beach got a taste of LN&AND’s found-lyrics operatic experiment. Since then the show has sploded into in epik dystopian clash between silly cat pictures and high art. Maybe it’s Brave New World for the Facebook generation. Maybe it’s 1984 with really bad grammar. But what’s certain is this: you’ll want to tell everyone you saw it first.

When local artists and musicians Ellen Warkentine and Andrew Pedroza first saw an internet meme of a fat cat sitting on top of a keyboard, they wrote a song about it. They did not know that one song would turn into many more, that “Astrocat” would become the protagonist in a found lyrics operatic experiment, or that said experiment would evolve into a full length dystopian clash between low-brow humor and high art. They know it now. And this Fall, so will you. You can haz cheezburger? Why, yes. Yes, you can.
